Crypto company Binance has named Eleanor Hughes as its new General Counsel.
Eleanor Hughes has taken on a new job where she will manage the legal matters of the company worldwide. She will work with a team of 85 legal experts. One of her main tasks will be to work closely with Binance’s Global Compliance team to help Binance responsibly expand the global Web3 industry. This will involve working with regulators and policymakers globally.
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the Founder and CEO of Binance, stated that Eleanor Hughes has become a reliable advisor to him. And the team on legal issues in the nearly two years she has been with the company. Her vast legal background, extensive knowledge of the industry, strong ethics. And hardworking attitude have made her an essential asset to the company. CZ also mentioned that he is confident that our legal team, led by Eleanor, will continue to excel in their mission to protect users and manage risks on our platform.
Hughes started working at Binance as a lawyer in November 2021. Later on, she was given a higher position as the Head of Legal for the APAC and MENA regions. In this role, she supervised legal affairs in these areas and had a team of lawyers who focused on regulations, business deals, and legal disputes. She played an important role in obtaining licenses and registrations for Binance to operate as a provider of virtual assets in different countries:
- Bahrain.
- Dubai
- New Zealand.
