CySEC Extends FTX’s Suspension

CySEC declared that the suspension of the Cyprus Investment Firm (CIF) of FTX (EU) Limited, the European branch of the failed crypto exchange FTX, will be continued until the 30th of September 2023.

CySEC announced on April 3rd that the suspension of the license of a Bahamas-based company would be extended. In order to allow it to take the necessary steps to meet the requirements of the Investment Services and Activities and Regulated Markets Law of 2017.

The Cypriot watchdog put a hold on the permit of the digital currency exchange in November 2022. After its collapse and later extended the suspension until March 2023.

CySEC passed a temporary suspension of FTX’s authorization to offer and carry out investment services in Cyprus. This means the exchange is not allowed to accept new clients, conduct any business transactions, or advertise itself as an investment provider.

However, FTX is allowed to finish current transactions according to client instructions and return all client funds and financial instruments.
