FCA: New crackdown on unregistered crypto ATMs

As part of a continued crackdown on this illicit sector, FCA inspect sites in Exeter, Nottingham, and Sheffield suspected of hosting illegally operated crypto ATMs.

The examination was part of a joint operation with:

  • The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit
  • The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit
  • The Nottinghamshire Police Force.

These ATMs allow people to convert or buy money into crypto assets. The National Economic Crime Centre is working with the FCA to coordinate action with law enforcement partners about operators of illegal crypto ATMs.
