Brett Paul Trevillian has been accused by the ASIC of creating fraudulent documents for personal gain. He faces four charges under section 253 of the Crimes Act in New South Wales.
Mr. Trevillian was taken into custody on 20 July 2023 by the NSW Police Force upon his arrival in Australia at Sydney International Airport. The arrest warrant was issued by ASIC. He attended a hearing at Downing Centre Local Court on 28 July 2023 where his bail conditions were confirmed. One of the conditions is that Mr. Trevillian must stay in Australia.
After an ASIC investigation, it is claimed that from May 2019 to October 2019, Mr. Trevillian, the director of Metal Alpha. And former investment manager of Trading Life Services, made four fake reports on the performance of portfolios. These reports were intended to be given to potential investors.
The Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions is handling this case after receiving a referral from ASIC.
The next court hearing is scheduled for 26 September 2023 at the Downing Centre Local Court.
According to section 253 of the Crimes Act, each charge can result in a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.
