eToro, an online broker, has included the Israeli Shekel in its list of tradable instruments. Allowing customers to exchange it for USD, EUR, or GBP.
Israel’s Shekel (ILS) is the 23rd most-traded currency around the world, according to the Bank for International Settlements, similar to the Turkish Lira (TRY) and the Czech Koruna (CZK). The Shekel was created in 1985 and has been traded openly since 2003.
The currency has a track record of balance and superior performance, stemming from Israel’s current account surplus, ample foreign exchange reserves, the Bank of Israel’s autonomy, and usually peaceful politics.
eToro recently announced that they will now offer Australian stocks (listed on ASX) as real, non-leveraged investments. This is a change from the previous option which only allowed investors to trade these stocks as CFDs.
