Interactive Brokers, an online broker, has introduced a feature that allows investors to trade partial shares of Canadian stocks and ETFs.
Interactive Brokers now allows its clients to trade fractional shares of all stocks and ETFs listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and CBOE Canada, as well as eligible stocks and ETFs from the US and Europe.
Fractional shares make it easy for investors to create a well-rounded portfolio and invest in shares, regardless of their price. By using fractional shares, investors can spread their investments across more stocks, which helps diversify their portfolio. Additionally, it allows them to quickly invest small amounts of cash to potentially earn higher returns.
EVP of Marketing and Product Development at Interactive Brokers, Steve Sanders, said:
Fractional shares trading continues to be an easy and economical way for investors of any level to construct or add to their portfolios. Fractional shares trading has been extremely popular for US and European stocks and ETFs, and we are excited to broaden our offering to include Canadian shares.
